ANGSTROM presents
The Green Gallery’s WALLGASM
A meta-installation featuring 17 artists
September 26 – November 7, 2009
Angstrom is thrilled to present Wallgasm, a project developed in collaboration with The Green Gallery, a Milwaukee-based gallery run by John Riepenhoff. Wallgasm showcases gallerists, curators, artists and art presenters including Tony Matelli, Jose Lerma, Michelle Grabner, Santiago Cucullu, Scott Reeder, Tyson Reeder, Peter Barrickman, Sara Clendening, Chris Smith, Ian Hokin, Nicholas Frank, Paul Druecke, Paul Stoelting, Steve Wetzel, Amanda Tollefson, Riepenhoff and Angstrom owner David Quadrini.
In keeping with the Riepenhff’s desire to question the structure of exhibition-making, Wallgasm considers art from inside out, using the gallery itself as a material and medium.
Riepenhoff’s own work embodies the notion of art as social and conceptual intersection, acting as a support system, platform, or staging ground for other artists. For example, in Wallgasm his head-sized miniature white-box gallery called The John Riepenhoff Experience exhibits Scott Reeder’s Greatest Hits, diorama-sized versions of his most popular paintings. Also, Riepenhoff’s newest autobiographical sculptures, Art Stand Series 1-4, showcase paintings by Grabner, Barrickman, Scott Reeder and Quadrini, from the perspective of the usually unseen art-handler.
Please collaborate in Wallgasm by implicating yourself as a viewer. Gallery-goers may see the show Tuesdays through Saturdays 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. between September 26th and November 7th, 2009. The opening reception takes place Saturday, September 26th from 7 p.m. – midnight.
